Christopher Dotson spent most of his life near the water, and a great deal of time underwater. As an avid scuba diver, and a former US Coast Guard member, he has spent many years contemplating the nature of the marine world. He classifies himself as a dreamer, and his paintings are based on his memories, dreams, and personal beliefs about what connects all living things.
In his words "I work to connect to that greater spirit that exists in nature. In my mind I become what I paint. I paint to reconnect to something ancient and mysterious. My paintings are based on the principles of nature; primarily chaos and order. I believe that the two are inseparable. One of the most influential moments in my life came to me during a scuba diving trip in the Virgin Islands, at night. It was there that I found a lifetime of inspiration."
